Krewe de Caldwell Mardi Gras Ball 2011

Another successful event at The Caldwell House took place on Saturday, February 26, 2011 when the Krewe de Caldwell Mardi Gras Ball was held.  Guests arrived in formal attire and as they entered The Caldwell, their pictures were taken by Shane Falgout of Studio 2640, with the backdrop being the fireplace in the Evangeline Master Suite.  (pictures in this article were taken by Shane Falgout)

In the parlor, the Mardi Gras tree, beautifully decorated by Carolyn Sagrera of The Caldwell staff, was quite an attraction.  In fact the entire downstairs of the home was tastefully decorated with Mardi Gras beads and ornaments, primarily the banisters on the stairs, all the fireplace mantles, and the table arrangements.

When guests entered the West Garden Pavilion, the site was magical.  Tables were draped in royal purple, with flickering candle lights and beads.  This was the first time the newly constructed pavilion was used for an event and it was the place to be.  Neil Trahan, DJ, provided the music, and the guests danced for hours in the main area of the pavilion to Mardi Gras and various types of music.  A “second line” procession was formed to the tune of Mardi Gras Mambo and guests, twirling white tissue in the air, paraded in a line throughout the downstairs of The Caldwell and around the pavilion, ending with everyone finishing the dance in the main pavilion area.

A delicious dinner was provided by Don’s Custom Catering (brisket, rice dressing, sweet potato casserole and more).  Yum!

Trent Roy with Marcello’s catered the cash bar, which was set up on the porch and was the most popular spot, particularly because of the chocolate martini’s and cosmopolitans!

It was a fun night for all guests and the staff of The Caldwell House.  Everyone is looking forward to next year’s Second Annual Krewe de Caldwell Mardi Gras Ball on February 11, 2012.  Save the date!
